Education and skills development
Educational sponsorship and Vocational skilling
Through initiatives such as child sponsorship, school support, caregiver empowerment, and community engagement, COU-TEDDO works to address barriers that prevent children from accessing education. The programme supports school infrastructure improvement, provision of scholastic materials, mentorship, and life skills development to enhance learning outcomes and personal growth. In addition, the programme strengthens child protection systems and promotes the active involvement of parents, caregivers, schools, and community leaders in safeguarding children’s rights and wellbeing. Through partnerships with vocational training institutions, local artisans, and private sector actors, the programme will provide hands-on training in trades such as tailoring, carpentry, hairdressing, mechanics, agribusiness, and other locally viable enterprises. In addition to technical skills, beneficiaries will be supported with entrepreneurship training, financial literacy, business planning, and savings group participation to strengthen their ability to start and manage small businesses. The programme will integrate life skills development, including leadership, self-confidence, communication, and decision-making, particularly targeting vulnerable youth and girls to enhance their social empowerment and resilience. Where possible, TEDDO will support trainees with start-up kits, mentorship, and market linkages to facilitate successful transition from training to income generating activities.
