Environment and natural resource management
The programme promotes environmental conservation, ecosystem restoration, and sustainable energy as foundations for resilient livelihoods in targeted locations. TEDDO works with community institutions and local governments to protect wetlands and forests, promote tree planting, and encourage responsible natural resource management through awareness campaigns and youth engagement. Renewable energy solutions such as solar, biogas, and improved cookstoves are integrated with conservation efforts to reduce environmental degradation, improve energy access, and strengthen climate resilience. With Uganda’s high solar potential but widespread energy poverty, TEDDO will support community adoption of clean energy, use local infrastructure as demonstration hubs, and create green livelihood opportunities for youth. Through partnerships with government, CSOs, and the private sector, and by embedding renewable energy across programs, TEDDO aims to build environmentally responsible communities capable of managing resources sustainably and adapting to climate shocks.
